2011 Carneros Chardonnay. This wine is our latest release from the Napa vineyard that produces all our Chardonnays. This wine displays beautiful butterscotch and is a gorgeous golden color. And it just brought home a bronze medal from the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition –where over 3,500 wines were entered this year, with every U.S.state represented, 4 Canadian provinces, and 20 countries.
Memorial Day weekend – we’ll celebrate this newest Chardonnay by featuring a special side by side tasting of all 3 of our single vineyard Chardonnays, 2008, 2010, and 2011.
2011 Viognier Gewurtztraminer – Lodi. This is our summer white and is bliss to enjoy on the deck or patio. It displays bright citrus and a sweet spicy finish. It pairs beautifully with Thai and Indian food, or with a crisp summer salad.

2006 Carneros Blanc de Noir. Yes, we still have a limited quantity of this very special sparkling wine remaining. This is a wine that stands up to a meal and is an elegant complement to your appetizer course. Or just open and enjoy anytime.

Barterra Winery is here to help you celebrate the season! The French wine grape harvest in 2012 is the worst in the last 40-50 years, with the Champagne area hit particularly hard.
But our California born and bred fine wines are better than ever and it’s time to stock up before the holidays and before prices go up.
Our “big three” for the holidays recommendation:
2006 Carneros Blanc de Noir Sparkling Wine. This wine is as fine or finer than your favorite French champagnes and this limited production wine will be going up in price and surely selling out in 2013. Right now you can stock up at $45/bottle, and we’ll extend a special 10% discount for orders of 6 or more, 20% case discount. An elegant sparkler to toast the season — and the perfectly balanced Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes make a wonderful wine to pair alongside grilled shrimp or even white truffle fries!
2006 Russian River Pinot Noir. We love this wine’s versatility — as it will gracefully work for both your seafood and robust winter stews. This wine is full flavored, beautifully colored and well balanced with the character of classic old-world Pinot Noir. The perfect vine ripened clones are from the highly sought after vineyards of Saralee and Genetti. This wine is a fabulous buy at $30/bottle, and we’ll extend the 10% discount for orders of 6 or more, 20% for a case.
2009 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Delmar’s Vineyard). This is an incredible wine — and with premium Cabernet grapes becoming rarer and demand going up, there is no time like the present to invest in this double double gold medal winning wine. Only 125 cases were produced and quantities are extremely limited. Over 100 judges from around the world designated this a gold medal winner at the Finger Lakes NY and San Francisco International Wine Competitions. The gorgeous silk screened bottle and the amazing elixir within makes this a fabulous holiday gift — and while the wine is young, its soft tannins make it drinkable for special occasions right now! This wine is a wonderful value at $90/bottle – quantities are limited so no more than 6 bottles per order!

September is traditionally our warmest month, and this year is no exception. The sun is shining and our guests are enjoying the ambiance of world class wine, olives and cheese. There’s nothing better than our 2006 Blanc de Noir sparkling wine (Carneros) shared among friends with a generous cheese and fruit plate or an intimate split of Barterra’s award-winning 2009 Alexander Valley Cabernet for an anniversary couple. Barterra Delmar’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon continues to wow the wine experts, judges and Cab lovers alike. Alongside the double gold the 2009 Alexander Valley Cabernet took in Finger Lakes, this wine also won kudos at the San Francisco International Wine Competition with another double gold. This fine Cabernet also took silver at the Sunset Magazine International Wine Competition. All these competitions attract thousands of world class wines and Barterra Cabernet stands with the best in the world.
We’ll be taking our show on the road with Tasting Panel Magazine this fall, pouring our double gold winner with other San Francisco International Wine Competition top winners. Look for us at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix on September 1 from 5 to 7 PM for the Grand Tasting event of the wine & Spirits Festival.

 Fathers Day from Barterra A fine Cabernet Sauvignon evokes the time for grilled meats and fathers. Barterra’s 2009 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a recent double gold medal winner at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition (one of just four Cabernets awarded worldwide), is a perfect Fathers Day gift for the Cab loving Dad. And just in time for this special event, Barterra has released a special package of two bottles of this incredible Cabernet with our Artists’ Series label by Christopher M, in a handsome carrying suitcase. The results are in and all three Barterra Winery entries have won awards in this prestigious competition. This year more than 3,000 wines were entered from 22 countries and all 50 states were represented. The panel of 64 world-renowned judges was the largest ever selected for this competition. Barterra’s focus is on limited production, world-class wines, and we are proud to have this honor.
Award winners are:
2009 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Double Gold. This wine is amazing and still evolving – the grapes were harvested from Delmar’s Vineyard, high in the Alexander Valley, and only 125 cases were produced. This elegant wine was aged in a combination of new French oak and second year American oak.
2010 Carneros Chardonnay. Silver Medal. This wine has already been deemed a winner by Barterra customers – a rich, elegant Chardonnay. The Chardonnay grapes were harvested on the Napa side of the Carneros Creek, very close to Bay rocky, well drained soils. Whole cluster pressed, barrel fermented, 16 months aging in French oak, 25% new oak.
2006 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Bronze Medal Winner. This wine also took bronze at the San Francisco International Wine Competition in 2010 and continues to improve with age. This deep rich purple colored wine is full-bodied with old world character and a lush and delightful feel on the palate.
As with all our limited release wines, these wines will last years in the bottle but only several months in our cellars — so order now or stop by to see us soon!

Happy 2012! We have grown tired of pouring our beautiful wines down the sink on Monday afternoons before we close. Since we are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. we need to empty all our bottles. So we’ve introduced our revolutionary “Drink the Dregs” program. Stop by anytime after 4:30 PM on Monday and enjoy a glass of any our wines that are open for just $1. That includes any one of our incredible wines – from our light and pleasing award-winning Vermentino to our robust award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. The only requirements are that 1) the wine bottle has already been opened for our tasting room and 2) you arrive between 4:30 and 5:30. We are looking forward to sharing a great glass of our wine.
